A strong tackler with good line-out skills, Semisi also has the speed for 7s. His ball-hunting skills earned him his first cap in the 2006 Pacific 5 Nations tournament where he stalked the Samoans from the side of the scrum to help Fiji win 23-20.
Nicknamed "Man Mountain", Semisi has made an excellent name for himself in the Fiji 7s team with outstanding performances in his first outing at the Argentina and Wellington 2002.
A member of the 2005 World Cup 7s winning team, his speed and aerial skills made him a menace. He was bestowed with the captaincy role for the last two tournaments of the 2005-06 IRB 7s Series, and it was fitting that he lifted the London 7s trophy and also the IRB 7s trophy.
While playing for his club Nawaka, he travelled to the Melrose 7s in Scotland in 2002.
Before rugby he played soccer at secondary school. He started to take rugby seriously after he left school through the encouragement of brother Api Naevo, the former Chiefs Super 12 lock.
He played a vital role in 2001 for Nadi in their winning of the Sullivan-Farebrother Trophy.
Naevo also won a silver medal at the Manchester Commonwealth Games a year later.
He joined Grammar Carlton in Auckland for the 2001 season and moved to Japan in 2003.
